About Us

Creative Youth Opportunities is a community arts organisation, established in 2014, we work with children, young people and families across the North East.

We are a Community Interest Company (not for profit, Registration Number 8873605) Based in East Durham we work across the North East.

Supported by a board of directors and founded by community artist and educator Michelle Harland, we have a staff team with much experience in  the arts, creative youth work and community arts projects…. everything from street art to performance, mosaic to games creation.

We have a vision which includes establishing arts and creativity as an accessible and enjoyable family activity across the North East.

From large scale arts events, art installations and long term participatory art projects to one-off workshops we cover it all.

We offer arty, crafty, creative and enterprising workshops, community projects, creative youth work and creative events.

We work with a wide range of community venues, groups, schools, local authorities, community organisations, other artists and the COMMUNITY in general!.

For families we run a range of creative activities, community arts projects and much more either funded in the community, at an affordable price, at our studio café in Seaham – The Creative Place! or via our funded and commissioned events working as part of ‘CreativePop’

We are a ‘Never Do Nothing’ safeguarding organisation with Full accreditation. Our staff all have full DBS checks in place and are experienced in working with children, young people, SEND and the community.

Our Creative Place in Seaham is a registered ARTS AWARD centre and we have a working relationship and membership to THE KEY – enabling young people to access funding for their own projects.
